About HOAs in Virginia
Virginia homeowners associations are governed primarily by the Virginia Property Owners' Association Act (Va. Code §§55.1-1800 et seq.) and, for condominiums, the Virginia Condominium Act (§§55.1-1900 et seq.). Virginia law sets a baseline for member access to governing documents, open meetings, board elections, and proxy voting.
