About HOAs in Hawaii
Hawaii community associations are governed by the Hawaii Condominium Property Act (Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 514B) for condominiums and by the Planned Community Associations chapter (Chapter 421J) for HOAs and planned-community associations. Both statutes give owners detailed rights around access to records, board meetings, elections, and proxy voting, and Chapter 514B requires associations to register with the state. Each Hawaii association also adopts its own declaration, bylaws, house rules, and amendments — HOAproxy aggregates those documents and makes the full text searchable across every Hawaii community on the platform.
